Closing the gap as year-end approaches
The bewitching hour has again arrived - that time of year when year-end looms and the crunch to close the gap to reach my annual objectives is upon me.  9 months into the year, when it is most critical to draw on a store of reserves, I often find myself facing burnout. Taken together, the stress  take a toll.
Over the years I've tried a number of tactics at this time to revive and recharge in an effort to hit the mark.  The lure of a training course to revive and recharge is especially strong at this time of year when business slows and my fear of missing my goal (all self -imposed incidentally) is strongest and I've taken my share. One year I followed this with a very expensive training arrangement with a 12 month commitment. The result, burnout intensified and my goal was missed -- ugh, talk about frustration!
What I'm trying this year is a new strategy -- simply put, it is the "let less fall through the cracks" using tools to simplify rather than complicate my daily routine.  Hopefully I will report back in January that I hit - better yet - surpassed by 2016 production goal.  But for now, I'd ... more
