Thankful For My Very Simple Childhood
 
As part of Debbie Reynolds ’  10 Day Thanksgiving Post Challenge, she has asked us to share with you what we are grateful for.  Stop by and read some of the posts and if you feel like it, share with us what you are grateful for as well.
 
My formative years occurred in the 50s when there were just three television channels and most of the food we ate was cooked at home.

My mornings began eating Frosted Flakes with regular  whole milk while I watched  Captain Kangaroo remind us to say “please” and “thank you” and Bunny Rabbit kept trying to steal all of the carrots.

We had one phone, two televisions and a huge bookshelf with real books to read.  On those shelves, we also had the Encyclopedia Britannica (Google long before it was Google.)
 
We played outside all day on Saturdays and came inside only for lunch and dinner.  And after helping with the dishes, we went back outside to play until we were called in.
 
When we had family dinners, everyone sat at the table and we talked.  (sometimes all at once)
