You Too Can Help Feed The Less Fortunate...
This is our entry for the Third Annual Pay It Forward ActiveRain Challenge For November sponsored by Belinda Spillman.
 
It's been challenging to contemplate donating time and labor to paying it forward these past few years with the medical challenges that are now, thankfully, successfully completed.
 
One way we have been able to pay it forward and help others in need is by significantly contributing to the Desert Mission Food Bank.
 
Their programs include the Emergency Food Program which provides monthly food packages for individuals and families in crisis, along with programs that help Seniors and that enable families to stretch their food budget.
 
 
We know that Food Banks proliferate across communities, and this is one way all of us can help those who need help, with a small amount of effort, but a tremendous reward for someone who might otherwise go hungry.
 
Thanksgiving is a particularly poignant time for those in need - the thought of a Thanksgiving feast that others are enjoying - can be brought to life for them by a simple act of donating a turkey and the trimmings.  Often, your local supermarket offers Free or inexpensive turkeys in conjunction with other purchases, and this is a great way to stretch your donation dollars and help ... more
