When you first started to think about having a place to go for the winter you may have thought of Florida. A great area to consider is Hobe Sound with a very laid back setting. In some cases you can own a condo for the amount of money you would spend on renting for a couple of months. 
My experience with seasonal buyers
I have sold many condo's to people that started out looking for a rental property for 1 or 2 months during season. In Martin County a lot of the rentals have a minimum of 3 months of renting. So for the money you would spend on renting a place for 3 months you could actually own. What I nice thought knowing where you will be spending your winter season.
