National Bean Day is January 6, What Beans Will You Celebrate With?
National Bean Day is January 6, What Beans Will You Celebrate With?
by Silicon Valley REALTOR Michelle Carr Crowe
January 6 is "Bean Day"-have you heard of this holiday before? If not don't feel badly, it's apparently celebrated "just because".
A pinto bean farmer's daughter, Paula Bowen, originated "Bean Day" on January 6th. According to www.holidayinsights.com, Ms. Bowen claimed January was so bleak and lacking in holidays, she started the "Bean Day" trend to counteract mid-winter dullness.
What are some good ways for Silicon Valley residents to celebrate "Bean Day"? By making bean soup or green bean casserole; reading a bean-themed book, such as "Jack and the Beanstalk" or a cookbook; or even browsing seed and garden catalogues for new beans to buy, plant and harvest.
If we stretch beans to include coffee beans, then we can really get creative on ways to celebrate "Bean Day". Lattes anyone?
