Getting Ready to Sell and Move-Our Personal Experience
Getting your home ready for sale: How many articles have you read about this subject? No doubt,there is a lot of good information out there.
Sue and I wanted to come at this from a slightly different angle. 
We have purchased another home in November, closing at the end of January. Three months later (after renovation), we will move. The new home is not a significant down size but there are storage issues. We are planning on putting our present home up for sale at the end of January.
So what did we do differently to prepare for the change?
STARTED EARLY!
We got together as a family (we have a high school senior) and came up with a plan. This plan primarily emphasized the De-cluttering ie cleaning out of our accumulated "valuables"!
Deciding what to part with is a tough process. Record albums from the '70's? Your son's baseball trophies? 10 extra pairs of running shoes? Kids Toys? A Wii Game? Exercise Equipment? My leisure suit collection? (just wanted to see if you are really reading this blog)
Once we got started, we were surprised how easy it was to part with the majority of these items.
