Yes We Are Students and Teachers
In Alabama, to become a licensee, we are required to prepare by taking a pre-license course and then after passing the course and the licensing exam, we are issued a temporary license. Before we can obtain our permanent license, we have to take and pass a post-license course.
But that's not the end of it, after that, every two years, we must complete continuing education courses in order to renew our license. And if we are smart, we take advantage of every opportunity to learn about our industry outside of the requirements because we want to and not because we have to.
As consumers, you may think that selling real estate can't be that hard and that all of this training that we are required to take is to teach us how to sell real estate.  While it is true that there are a lot of continuing education courses available to help us be better at our jobs by improving our sales skills, the over-arching reason for all of this training it to learn about real estate law.
