a buncha mythbustin' about bloggin on Active Rain
There has been a fair amount of myth-busting going on here on Active Rain, lately, and never to be one to be left out I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon.
MYTH #1 Blogging is hard to do. Nonsense. If you can speak, you can write. All you have to do is write as though you're having a conversation with your friends. Don't worry about sounding literary... in fact it's better if you don't sound too high-falutin' (yes, I said "high-falutin'", you young whippersnappers!). Just write like you sound and you'll be just fine.
MYTH #2 It takes too much time to blog. You don't have to blog daily... just regularly. You want to build up a following of regular readership, and it's nice for them to know how often you're going to be writing... whether that's daily... once or twice a week, weekly, monthly... it's nice to get a regular routine going. And you'd be surprised. Once you get going, it becomes somewhat addictive.
MYTH #3 It takes too long to see any results. This one is largely dependent on you. If you write interesting content that people like to read. If you write local sales reports, localism events and other scintillating information ... more
