One-Man Truman Capote Play
 
 
The Lewisburg Literary Festival, in partnership with Greenbrier Valley Theatre, the State Professional Theatre of West Virginia, presents Jay Presson Allen’s Tru. Based on the words and works of American writer Truman Capote, this one-man show runs August 3 and 4 at 7:00 p.m. and August 5 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenbrier Valley Theatre. This program is sponsored by MedExpress Urgent Care. 
 
 
 
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Tickets are available at the Greenbrier County CVB by phone at 888-716-5082or in person at 905 Washington Street West in Lewisburg.
 
The setting is Capote’s apartment, 1975. An excerpt from Capote’s book Answered Prayers has just been published, but when his friends see themselves in his work their sense of betrayal leads them to desert him. Alone, Capote, portrayed in this production by actor Mark Chambers, contemplates his life and what might lie in his future.
 
Chambers is no stranger to the role of Truman Capote. He has played it in the past to great critical acclaim, most recently in 2016 at St. Petersburg, Florida’s Studio@620.
