To get the right answers you have to ask the right question . . . . and proactively listen to the person who is speaking.
 
The foundation of asking the right questions comes with the process of proactive listening . . . . and applying the 80–20 rule.  
 
The 80-20 rule is . . . . Listen 80% of the time to secure information and knowledge. Use 20% of your time in asking the right questions.
 
Being a proactive listener puts you in the position of having the understanding . . . . and the knowledge of the person . . . . or their situation. Listening will enable us to help the other person reach their objectives.
 
The more that you are able to effectively help other people the more you are able to help yourself.
