Photo of the Day: Elk Camp
I love this photograph for a lot of reasons. I took this one night on the first elk hunt that my dad, my brother and I went on together. It was taken on 35mm film and I no longer have the negative, but have managed to hold onto this scan of the photo.
The tent is lit with a single lantern and if you look closely, you can see the trail of smoke coming out of the chimney.
Our camp was located near Overland Reservoir in Colorado, not too far from Glenwood Springs.
The photo has been used as a book cover and also painted by an artist in Spokane, WA. She saw my share the photo on Twitter and asked me if she could paint it. Of course I said yes, and then bought it once it was done and gave it to my dad for Christmas.
