Closing an Email with an 'Openness'...Carlisle, PA.
I can imagine that some of you may have read the title of this blog and rolled your eyes, wondered if it was a typo, or perhaps glanced at your email inbox and felt overwhelmed my the 199 new emails that require your attention.
Think about the 'closing' words you email to clients or other business relationships.  Of course it is important to keep the interaction professional yet non-robotic.  Emails can lack emotion.  Yet, there is a tenderness that hangs in the balance between utmost professionalism and sincerity and it's in that 'space' where we have the opportunity to extend graciousness.
Have you ever given much thought to your closing words in your emails?
Pause and consider the following:
Cordially,
Sincerely,
Regards,
How do these words make you feel?
I'm guessing that you feel neutral or perhaps are so accustomed to seeing them that you glaze over them and feel absolutely nothing. Yet these are the last words your reader sees...
Do you value your clients and business relationships?  Of course you do, and therefore, consider your 'closing' as an invitation into an 'openness' of expressing your value for them and the relationship.
With Appreciation,
With Gratitude,
With Thanks,
Maria
