12 Days Of Thanksgiving 2017 - ActiveRain Challenge: Day 2

If it hadn't been for continuing to honor veterans and the military yesterday, my late husband would have been my choice for Day 1 of giving thanks.  Although Max passed through the veil 6 1/2 years ago, I continue to receive the blessings of having had him in my life for 30 years.  
Max and I met when I was 29 years old.  I was happy being single, had built a great career and was financially secure.  I wasn't looking to make any changes.  But, as they say, the Lord works in mysterious ways and... along came Max.  
We met at the Wenatchee airport when we were both being interviewed for a 2-year leadership program.  To make a long story short, we were both accepted into the program and got to know each other as we carpooled to and from the various seminars around the state of Washington.
Max was a scientist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service and served as the research leader in Wenatchee for many years.  Due to his infamy as the world authority on plant growth regulators on fruit trees, he did a great deal of traveling around ... more
