State Mandatory Course
Today I took the exam for the New Mexico Mandatory Course, which is required for all associate brokers in NM.   Yes I passed!  My issue with the test is not the level of difficulty, but I seemed to have missed the point.  I had to pay $70 for the class, then another $95 for the exam with PSI.  There definitely seems to have been a disconnect between the text writers and the test writers.
Someone has definitely dropped the ball on this one.  What is the true purpose of this course?  If it is to ensure that agents are are keeping up with the changes in the laws, etc, then make sure that the book and the test, corroborate these changes.  Another point, why is the test so expensive?  If an individual fails the test then he/she has to pay the $95 again.
Based on the information I have gathered, quite a few people failed the test; while others weren't required to take the exam; then there are those who are allowed to take it as an open book test.
I think the NM Education Steering committee needs to revisit this issue.  Frankly, I do not think testing is the answer.  If you are going to test, then give a reasonable test and get rid of ... more
