Why Birds Fly Into Windows and How To Prevent It
Birds fly into windows because they see the reflection of the sky.
I was cooking dinner this week when I heard a loud BAM on the window. I ran to see what happened and discovered a large hawk lying motionless on the ground. As I watched, he slowly began to move his claws and head. After many minutes, he flew a short distance and landed in a bush near my bedroom window. I checked on him for hours and into the night. He was breathing but once the sun set, the bird stayed hidden in the bush and shrubbery. At first light, I looked out and the hawk was gone. I've since seen him flying around the neighborhood and I'm so glad he recovered from the accident.
I Love Birds! What Can I Do To Prevent This From Happening Again?

Attach a net or screen 2-3 inches from the window. If the screen or net is pulled taut, the bird will bounce off Attach bird tape strips on the window about 4 inches apart. Here's a link to ABC Birdtape with step by step instructions ... more
