Fair Housing is more than a community guideline, it's the law
Active Rain has published guidelines that all members are expected to abide by. Following these guidelines makes Active Rain a pleasant, fair, and motivating place to share information between real estate professionals, and the public. Part of our community guidelines requires participants to follow the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Fair Housing laws. In our current political environment there seems to be a lot of talk about race in America. Whether you are a republican or democrat, it seems that the topic finds itself in the nightly news. I'm not going to state if I'm conservative or liberal, but I will state that as a Realtor in the state of California I, nor should any of us, violate the Fair Housing Laws established by HUD. The Fair Housing Act was established in 1968 under the authority of Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968. In a nutshell, it prohibited discrimination based on four things Race Color Region National origin In 1974 Sex was added as an additional protected class. In 1988 Familial status and disability were added as protected classes.
