My First Year in Real Estate
It seems so long ago but parts of that first year stand out like it was just yesterday.  It was an interesting time, I had plenty of life experiences but had never been in business for myself.  I was always an employee and never had "skin in the game" like being an independent real estate agent.  I did not get my license as a lark, trying to get some of the free money that some agents think is there for the taking.  I was always intending to learn about the industry, build a business and be successful in that business.

The first year needs to be about education and knowledge.  You really don't know much about the actual business until you gain some experience about that business.  You can probably idle along but I would definitely find an experienced agent who knows the business and shadow their activities.  You need to spend the evening hours reading everything you can get your hands on in addition to spend 40 plus hours in the day.  The numbers speak for them selves, the majority of agents do not last past that first year.  Dung ... more
