Relax by the Marshall Island Boat Ramp on the Willamette River
Willamette River
The Willamette River flows north from the Cascade Mountains in western Oregon, through Eugene, on its way to Portland where it joins the mighty Columbia River.  Its 187-mile journey provides ample opportunity for water recreation for nearby residents.
Marshall Island Boat Ramp
Marshall Island is a small island in the Willamette River south of Junction City.  It lends its name to an Oregon State Parks boat ramp east of River Road and north of Eugene., part of the Willamette River Greenway system. It's used mainly by fishermen and I've never found it to be very crowded.
If my wife and I are in the area to purchase fresh produce at Thistledown Farm or Lone Pine Farms, we'll frequently spend a relaxing few hours sitting near the boat ramp watching the water flow by, observing wildlife, and enjoying a few tasty hors d'oeuvres.
You can view a nice drone video of the boat ramp and surrounding area here.  The solitude and relative absence of people makes this a welcome respite that we hesitate to share with others.  OK, you can visit, but please don't tell your friends!
