No Basement...No Radon...'Right ? Wrong !
      In  southeastern Wisconsin, and many other parts of the country, Radon gas is prevalent and if a property does not have a mitigation system in place, a radon test is very often included in the offer to purchase.  Most properties in southeastern Wisconsin have basements...often with elaborate finishes from media and game rooms to wet bars, kitchens, offices, bedrooms, full baths, saunas...every square inch of the house that can be used is...for things other than just storage or the laundry room.  All the more reason to include a radon test in an offer...OR ...have your home tested for radon if it does not currently have a mitigation system.
     When a house is tested, the meter is usually placed in the basement where it remains undisturbed for a couple days and then the results are read.  Radon is a gas and the levels will vary during any given time period. If the average exceeds the governmment's recommended level.
