Limited Skills Labor Force

In this article 1 written by Lawrence Yun, NAR's Chief Economist, he highlights the labor-market friction in construction and emphasizes the difficulty in finding skilled construction workers.

We must be the advocates and be the ones to help find solutions for this deficit in skilled labor. One such solution we have in Denver is the Colorado Homebuilding Academy, 2 focusing on training, careers, and opportunities.

This is a collaborative, industry-driven training organization created to solve the construction industry's need for motivated and skilled workers. They provide hands-on learning, real-life experience, job placement and mentoring for youth and adults.

Not only do students earn basic construction skills, but they will earn industry certifications, skills, academic credit, mentorship and career exploration.

When you support Colorado Homebuilding Academy, you support the entire housing industry. Be proactive and contact the Colorado Homebuilding Academy to get involved. Contact Cheryl Schuette, Builder and Contractor Outreach, at 303-915-0970, or e-mail heryl.Schuette@COHomebuildingAcademy.org, or Michael Smith, Director, Michael.Smith@COHomebuildingAcademy.org, at 303-997-0463 x 121.
