My Gorilla Adventure
I knew this would be memorable and OMG was it. I spent 10 days in Uganda before getting to the point and the place of the trek. Bwindi is called impenetrable for a reason. Few humans ever make this journey and fewer are successful. I knew all of this but I went anyway principally because my days of daring are limited, and the less than 880 endangered gorillas in the world may soon be no more.
The climb is impossible to describe, but all who do it have faith that they will prevail and while my faith was sorely tested, I did with the help of two porters get there. I saw six members of the third largest family, including a baby who came to me, wrapped itself around my leg and then proceed to grab my shirt with such force I was pretty sure I would lose it. People were laughing and taking pictures and I had an experience I won't soon forget. I have no pictures of this, but a new friend I traveled with does and when I get it, I will share.
