Free College Classes for Dallas County Property Owners Over 65
If you are a senior adult, 65 or older, and own property in Dallas County, Texas, you may be eligible to take up to 6 semester hours for FREE at any of the Dallas County community colleges.  I know first hand. I've done it!
From the dcccd.edu website: "Texas residents, who own property subject to ad valorem taxation by the DCCCD, or dependents of such persons, may pay tuition at the rate of residents of Dallas County. If a senior citizen (person 65 years or older) who resides in or owns property subject to ad valorem taxation in Dallas County enrolls in credit courses, the college will waive a maximum of six hours tuition each semester or summer session if space is available."
The month I turned 65, I made an appointment and went to Brookhaven College to enroll in this senior adult program. I met with the program director, DeBorah Whaley-Stephenson (972-860-4807) and provided a copy of my county tax bill. The process of completing the paperwork was quick and easy, and DeBorah got me enrolled in a beginning yoga class while I was there.
