Pearl GOLD Achieved!
After hearing about the Pearl Certication a week ago, I decided to go for it and get my home certified. No, I didn't "Go for the Gold" as I had no idea what energy efficient upgrades would be allotted points. So, I contacted them in blind faith that after all my hard work, my home would achieve at least a silver certification.
 
Receiving the call yesterday that my home earned the GOLD Certification, well let's just say I was excited to say the least! You see, my home is a teaching tool that is included in my slide deck in my classes for realtors, appraisers, BPI contractors, and anyone who wants to learn about ways to lower their energy bills and how to sell those homes for more money.
It all started by renting out my 2007 home and buying this 1979 "jewel." I say that a bit sarcastically as it was quite the original, desperately in need of a make-over. The improvements since 1989 had been a new roof, new windows and doors, new security door and a new garage door. But that's about it. Maybe a dishwasher but I wasn't planning on keeping that anyway!
