Photo Friday: The Dress That Changed My Life!

Last week I posted a picture of a dress I knitted when I was in High School.  Some of you indicated you'd be interested in seeing some of my other creations so this week I'm going right to my proudest accomplishment as a seamstress.
This isn't a good picture, but here it is. This is the dress that changed my life.  This pink and white checked gingham dress won a National Sewing Contest in 1966, when I was 14 years old. Every single square matched on this garment and I hand smocked the waistline and hand sewed the hem with a blind stitch. There were 55,000 entries.
The prize was $200, a typewriter and a sewing machine. That was a big deal in those days.  I still have the sewing machine but not the money or the typewriter.  I do have $200, just not THAT $200.  LOL
