Trump vs China, Part II
Well, the battle is on.
Trump just wanted to stop China from dumping steel and aluminum, but China thought he was just another weak American politician.
They put tariffs on grains and products from the mid-west. Trump was supposed to cave.
Surprise!
So Trump upped the ante. Now he is proposing hundreds of billions of dollars of tariffs on all manner of Chinese goods.
China is either going to cave to Trump’s wishes, or they are going to collapse.
Their economy is in free-fall. Their stock markets have lost a huge percentage of their wealth. Their banks are highly leveraged and ready to collapse. Their unemployment rate is much higher (than ours or even what theirs was). If we don’t buy their crap, what are they going to do with it?
The Chinese Premier is in office for life, but that doesn’t mean he can disregard the pain he has brought unto his people.
China was spoiled by decades of everybody looking the other way while they “stole” markets and intellectual property.
China is one of the largest economies in the world, but under WTO rules they are treated as a “developing” nation as if they were on a par with Zimbabwe. They don’t ... more
