52 Saturdays - Week 33 - Dreher Island State Park
   About 30 miles outside Columbia and literally located on an island, three of them in fact, Dreher Island State Park is an excellent place to get out and enjoy some Sun, water, and the great outdoors. The 348 acre park boasts 12 miles of  beautiful Lake Murray shoreline and invites visitors to swim, fish, and launch boats from the boat landings located by the bait and tackle shop. In fact these ramps serve as launching spots for several national fishing tournaments that are held on Lake Murray as well.
  If the water is not your thing, you can always explore any of the trails located throughout the park and enjoy the three playgrounds on the island as well. Picnic shelters offer spots to relax and get out of the Sun.
 
  If you happen to enjoy the park so much that a day trip just isn't enough, then Dreher Island has you covered there as well. An astounding 97 paved campsites welcomes visitors to camp in tents or bring RV's to the park for overnight visits.
