Buster Warenski was born in Kimberly, Nevada back in 1942. Frankly I do not have any information about him that is until 1966 when he was 24. Prior to that his hobby was making knives however after seeing a photo of a knife made by Gil Hibben he started making knives full time.
By 1975 was president of the Knifemakers’ Guild for 2 terms and a Blade Magazine member of the Cutlery Hall of Fame. He was famous for his “Art Knives” making them exclusively after 1975. He built a recreation of the gold dagger found in King Tut’s tomb. It took him 5 years to make the knife from 32 ounces of pure gold, that knife beame his “Legacy Knife”. He went on to build “The Gem of the Orient”, that one had 153 emeralds totaling 10 karats, 9 diamonds totaling 5 karats. That one took him 10 years to build. It sold for $2.1 Million. So, I ask you what would you pay for a knife? For me it certainly would not be 2.1 Million. The last one he made had 28 ounces of 18K gold, 22 rubies totaling 4.25 karats and 75 diamonds totaling 7 karats. He died in ... more
