The Surfing Goat Dairy in Kula, Maiu in Hawai
 
One of the fun things we did on our recent trip to Maui was visit the Surfing Goat Dairy on the slopes of Haleakala, the 10,000 foot dormant volcano on Maui. We weren’t staying on that part of the island so it was a bit of a drive but well worth it. More on Haleakala later.
 
The dairy is officially in lower Kula, a small town part way down (or up) the mountain. I had seen this goat cheese brand on a restaurant menu and we thought it’d be fun to check the place out since we were going to be fairly close by.
 
This male goat was fun to watch - he was playing with his food dish, carrying it around and dropping it on the ground - but that video didn't turn out. This one of him bleating is pretty funny.
 
 
We didn’t do an official tour, or spend time trying to milk a goat or to try our hand at goat herding, but did enjoy a few minutes touring their facility and sampled some of the blueberry lilikoi (yellow passion fruit) gelato which was amazing!!
