The story behind the hot neighborhoods in Matthews in 2018 is the relatively sharp increases in the average sale prices of homes. With one exception, these neighborhoods did not see very large increases in the number of homes sold in 2018 compared with 2017, but home prices did escalate. Matthews remains a reasonably affordable area for home buyers despite the 2018 price increases with three of these neighborhoods averaging sale prices under $300,000.
