Saturday Smiles: Spring Abundance at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market!

We would characterize the Santa Barbara Farmers Market as a testament to Spring abundance.  We have had warmer temperature and sunny days.  Just look at the pile of beautiful vegetable at Roots Organic Farms this morning!
BD Trine Farms specialize in herbs as one of their niches.  We always buy our parsley, cilantro, and other herbs from them.  Pictured above, the little yellow flowers are chamomile for tea, two types of parsley: Italian and curly, thyme, cilantro and laurel leaves.

Another display of vegetables globe artichokes flanked by green onions and reddish lettuce caught our attention with it colorful contrast.
We enjoy eating purple asparagus. Purple asparagus is as good as green asparagus, and it turns green when cooked.  According to Frieda
Aside from the obvious difference in color, Purple Asparagus contains about 20% more sugar than other varieties. It was developed in Italy and is very large with burgundy spears and a creamy white interior and are tender with a sweet, mild nutty flavor when cooked.
Harry's Berries always has great displays of their berries.  And as usual they are delicious...

Wishing you an abundance of Saturday Smiles
Ron & Alexandra
