Carnegie Hall's 2019 Ivy Terrace Concert With Long Point String Band
Yes, it is that time... time for Carnegie Hall's 2019 Ivy Terrace Concert Series. The concerts start this year on Thursday, June 13, at 6:30 pm with the bluegrass group Long Point String Band. Sponsored by City National Bank, the concerts take place outside on Carnegie Hall’s Ivy Terrace as attendees watch from the expansive lawn in front of New River Community and Technical College.

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and pack a picnic to enjoy live music. All of the Ivy Terrace concerts are free and open to the public.

The Long Point String Band is an old-time acoustic “neo-traditional” outfit from southern West Virginia. The group blends the authenticity of old-time mountain music, with the flare of bluegrass, regularly playing musical selections from West Virginia old-time and bluegrass pioneers. The group consists of the virtuosic stylings of Hunter Walker, Brian C. Bell, Lewis Prichard, Lars Swanson, and Tessa Dillon. Most recently, the band won first place in the old-time band category at the 2017 Tazewell Old-Time and Bluegrass Fiddler’s Convention.

The remaining Ivy Terrace schedule is as follows:
June 27 - Shayar (reggae); July 11 - Hardened and Tempered (folk/country from Austin, Texas); ... more
