Why Own A Home? It's Personal
Why own a home instead of renting?
Now you'll often hear "It's the biggest investment you'll ever make!".
And that's probably a true statement, but our personal view is thinking that buying a home is going to guarantee a major jackpot at the end of your ownership is a roll of the dice.  Buy at the top of a bubble and you're going to get spanked, HARD.
So why buy a home?  The reasons will vary from person to person.
 
For us, the reason why is a series of words.
Freedom.
Control.
Choice.
Stability.
 
Liz and I married just a handful of days after I graduated from Annapolis.  The first six years of our marriage involved a lot of nomadic life and no realistic opportunity to be a home owner.  5 different homes in 6 years, none of them ours. 
 
After my Navy days we headed to Cincinnati to start my career as an engineer.  Initially we rented.  We wanted some time to get to know the area, get my job history established and figure out the whats and the whys.
