Deep Creek Hot Springs in San Bernardino National Forest
Valued at the regional and national levels of California, the landscape surrounding Deep Creek is unique and supports the greatest diversity of wildlife habitats and drainage on the San Bernardino National Forest. It has also earned the State designation of a Wild Trout Stream. Deep Creek also boasts of vegetation and ranges from sparse creosote, California buckwheat and chamise. Lower elevations include oak and pinyon woodland and scattered mixed conifer, and healthy riparian habitats are also present. 
 
Deep Creek is also home to the endangered specie " The Southern Arroyo Toad. This toad generally comes out only at night to forage food and remains burrowed in the sand during the day. To spot The Southern Arroyo Toad you should should looks for warty skin, dark spots and a light-olive green or gray to tan skin-tone. 
 
While visiting Deep Creek it is important to note that you can NOT drink the water. The hot springs contain a rare and sometimes fatal disease called primary amoebic meningoencephalitis. The disease is contained within contaminated soil and is transmitted to the Hot Spring pools as the warm water flows over and through the soil. Please, do not submerse your head.
