Gaithersburg Sharrows: Road Lane Markings
 
On roadways throughout Gaithersburg, you'll find lane markings called "sharrows." They show a bicycle with two chevron arrows above it. Sharrows don't indicate a dedicated biking lane; rather, they alert motorists and cyclists to the fact that bicycles are allowed to share the full driving lane. Along with the sharrows, these roadways have signs indicating that "Bikes May Use Full Lane." Bikes are also accommodated on roads with dedicated bike lanes and on multi-use paths with widths generally greater than eight feet.
