My Area...........the Berkshires

I have lived in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts for almost eight years now. It is a special place that I have known for the better part of my life. Today I will highlight some of the extraordinary activities that go on all summer and many all year. First I will talk about Tanglewood where I have worked since moving here. Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops Orchestras and welcomes and features some of the most famous popular artists as well as classical ones. The main venue is The Shed, featuring 5000 seats insides and lawn seating for another 25,000. There are other sites at Tanglewood and each is special. There are great programs for the best high school students from everywhere in the world, and another program for college and graduate students who will one day be contributing professional musicians. It is neat to be a part of this magical area.

There is a wonderful dance place called Jacobs Pillow. I have enjoyed watching groups there from all ... more
