Mongolia Wrap Up
I recently spend two weeks transversing Mongolia. It was a hard and different kind of trip and experience. There was lots of flying and too much driving but I saw things I never would have in any other part of the world.
There were road side shrines even though except in the capital and out of the airports there were no roads. The significance of the shrines has mostly to do with good or bad fortune. You need to go clockwise around them three times. If you go twice you are not going to fare well. I avoided the circles but found it interesting.
In various parts of the country there are big time places for religious observation and veneration. One such place was in the former capital where Pilgrims and visitors alike come to see the massive numbers of early virtuous fore-bearers.
And then besides the numerous animals seen roaming everywhere there are the children.
Finally I learned in Mongolia that it is OK to live with less and not want for more. Simple lives are sometimes the best.
