George Constantinescu
George Constantinescu was born in Craiova, Romania back in 1881. His father was a professor of mathematics and engineering at Sorbonne University. He moved to England in 1912 where he stayed the rest of his life. While I can’t find anything about his education, when you read the rest of this post apparently, he was well educated.
He married Alexandra in 1914, the marriage broke down in the 1920’s. Now let’s get down to his inventions shall we.
If you are a military movie fan like me you’ll recognize during WWI and WWII fighter aircraft would have their machine guns behind the propellers firing rounds that never hit the blades. He invented the hydraulic machine gun synchronization gear that allowed that to happen. He developed several patents for improvement to carburetors, also some valves and the fuel injectors for diesel engines, a torque converter. All in all, he registered over 130 inventions. He died in 1965 in Coniston Water he was 84.
