Adolf Dassler
 
Adolf Dassler was born in Herzogenaurach, German Empire in 1900 to Christoph and Aldirdas.  At 13 he completed his formal education and was apprenticed to a baker.  Being a baker did not appeal to young Adolf but what did was his love for sporting events.  He engaged in a variety of sporting events, track, soccer, boxing, ice-hockey, skiing and ski jumping.  He fashioned his own equipment. 
At 14 he was conscripted by the German Army, but did not see action until 1918 just before the end of WWI.  After the war, he followed in his father’s footsteps as a cobbler.  He produced one of the earliest spiked shoes with spikes forged by the local smithy.  When WWII started he was again conscripted into the Nazi Party.  He was arrested after the war and was hold for a year while the investigation continued.  He was released in 1946. In 1949, he founded a company which I’m sure you’ve heard of.
What you may not know about Adolf is that the company he founded is Adidas. Oh yeah, his brother Rudolf founded Puma.  Adolf died in 1978.
