I'm no time management guru. I'm not going to write a book or create some specialty blog, but you don't succeed in a dual career life without some sense of what's important and what's important, but not quite THAT important, and what's just busywork.
And I'll twist the meaning of Ricky Bobby's quote a bit. I'm not worried about being the #1 agent in Cincinnati. That's best left for other agents. I've got different priorities and I know the limits of how much I can do to my satisfaction. Taking on EVERY potential client that contacts me isn't the way for me to succeed.
Sometimes it's better for me to practice catch and release prospecting. Whether it's personality, distance away, the realization that reality and the buyer's demands have no chance of overlapping, or some other factor, I may see a red flag that tells me it's best to help the caller find another agent.
And the same thing applies with tasks. I recognize some things HAVE to be done TODAY. If I've committed to a seller that we will go live in MLS the next day, I'm going to be doing whatever I need ... more
