The weather outside is frightful...
Oh, the weather outside is frightful...! Wait.. that's a different holiday, but it is looking very gloomy out this Halloween. There's a storm moving in from the west, rain with gusty winds and some thunderstorms are in the forecast for Montgomery and Howard Counties. 
My child's school canceled their annual Halloween Parade... a very unhappy Hermione Granger left my house this morning. But there's hope that Halloween 2019 won't just be gloomy. We'll be having some friends over, and it looks like we may just get a break from the rain long enough to head out for some trick-or-treating.
If you are partaking in the festivities tonight, it can't hurt to check whether or not there are rules in place in your community - especially if you live in a condo, or one with an active HOA. Generally, the porch light indicates whether or not a house is welcoming trick-or-treaters: ON for yes and OFF for no.
If you are planning on handing out candy, then check your front yard, porch, stoop etc. for trip hazards, and make sure that there's enough light. Yes, I know... it's not as much fun as scaring visitors, but as a home owner you could be held liable should someone ... more
