Motivational Monday...Enjoy the Moment
 
Larry’s mother had a Ph.D. in Psychology, was Phi Beta Kappa and a master bridge player but sadly she never learned how to enjoy the moment.  She would stay up till 3 in the morning before anyone was coming over trying to get things arranged. In her head, she envisioned just how everything would go. 
 
And yet, what I observed was someone who could never be happy because she was always focused on what went wrong or what in her mind we should have been doing. 
 
Consequently, while we were all having fun and enjoying ourselves, she was reviewing what went wrong. 
 
I thought about this recently during our Thanksgiving dinner. Over the years when hosting dinners and parties,  I’ve learned that you do your best to plan ahead to make sure that there’s enough food, beverages, etc and then relax and enjoy the moment. 
 
 If something does happen (like the time the caterer forgot to bring the cake for Larry’s 50th birthday, or the popcorn machine they brought blew a fuse) I’ve learned to laugh it off and chalk it up to another memorable moment!
 
It’s not just about planning parties or big family dinners but anything else we encounter in life.
