the flu-flappener flap
I just got over a 48-hour senior moment.
We just finished conducting an inspection for a buyer of mine... and I was on the phone with the listing agent, explaining that we're going to be asking for an extension, so that we can have the time to have an expert come out to inspect the chimney.  The inspector told us that the ... uh.... what do you call that thing....??? you know... the flu-flappy thing that opens up the chimney??
(fortunately, at least for me, the listing agent couldn't think of the word for that flu-flappy thing either... so I wasn't alone in my senior-misery)... and we spent a few minutes on the phone talking around that flu-flappy thing.
I figured the word would come to me the instant that I hung up with her... and I would text it to her... it didn't.
Fast-forward 48 hours later... I just came back from meeting the chimney inspector... and as he walked up the sidewalk to the front door... suddenly my mind screamed at me, with the hot-white-intensity of two suns.. "DAMPER!"
I was going to ask the chimney-ologist what it was called, but instead he shared with me the many many things that people call ... more
