Can You Still Buy Or Sell An Ohio Home During Shelter In Place?
Ohio, just like much of the U.S., has been in a fluid environment the last few weeks thanks to COVID-19.  Where possible, "work from home" has become the mantra.
Social distancing has been requested, and obviously some have been taking it more seriously than others.
So the next step?  Governor DeWine announced a "shelter in place" order effective Monday at midnight and ending April 6th (of course that's subject ot change).
Shelter in place isn't a lock-down. and businesses considered "essential" are allowed to continue to operate.
If your favorite restaurant is still offering take-out, you're still allowed to order and pick it up.
Depending on your job, you can still work, although working remotely is still desired.
So what's essential?
There's a long list in the Ohio directive for the shelter in place, and many are what you'd expect:  first responders, medical, etc.
And fortunately for people that are in the process of buying or selling a home, real estate and related services are considered essential (no cracks from the For Sale By Owner crowd please!).
So if you've got a purchase contract in place, you can still complete the steps in the process.  Home inspectors?  Allowed to work.
Appraisers?  Them too.
Loan officers?  You bet.
Title company?  Still checking the fine ... more
