Why is the Real Estate Industry Considered Essential?
A couple days ago, Governor Ralph Northam gave orders for no-essential businesses to shut down as Virginians shelter in place to try and stop the spread of COVID-19.  Essential businesses that were allowed to remain open and working, with amended practices to allow for social distancing and sanitizing surfaces, were banks, grocery stores, pet stores, insurance companies and liquor stores.  Is real estate considered an essential business under the Governor's orders?  Yes. 
Many people in the real estate industry itself fail to realize how important our industry is, especially at times like this.  There are many buyers relocating to our state for jobs.  In fact, I have a listing  under contract right now with a buyer that is relocating to the area for a job.  Would it be fair, right or just to allow that buyer to default because the Governor shut down the real estate industry?  No.  Would it be fair, right or just for the Governor to stop sellers, already under contract, from continuning the sale of their homes?  No.
