Viburnum dentatum, commonly known as southern arrowwood, roughish arrowwood, or arrowwood viburnum is a fruit-bearing shrub native to the central and eastern parts of the United States and Canada. It grows to be 6-12 feet tall and up to 10 feet wide and has oval-shaped dark green leaves with jagged edges that change color to a deep, lovely red in Autumn.
 
 
 In spring and summer, Viburnum dentatum produces small white flowers that grow in clusters that are 2-4 inches across, and are often fragrant as well. In the autumn, it produces fruit, which is dark purple or black and berry-like. These berries are often consumed by birds, while the flowers attract butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds; to say the least, you will see lots of beautiful wildlife in your yard after planting Viburnum dentatum. It also provides an excellent food source for bees, which are essential to plant life. Because of its size, this plant makes a great privacy hedge or even just a single beautiful bush.
