Environmentally Friendly While propane comes from fossil fuel sources, it’s much more environmentally friendly than most other home heating sources. It produces far fewer environmentally harmful byproducts than other fossil fuels. That makes propane an excellent replacement for traditional heating sources like fuel oil and firewood. 2.
