Is Being a Member of NAR Worth It?
 
Being a Member of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) has important benefits. It is highly suggested that real estate agents, brokers, and managing brokers become members of NAR. The national dues for being a member of NAR are $150 per member in 2020. The benefits far outweigh the nominal cost of membership.
 
Only Members Can Call Themselves a Realtor®Only real estate professionals who are members of NAR can call themselves a Realtor®. Real estate agents, brokers, and managing brokers who aren't members of NAR shouldn't be calling themselves Realtors®. The public acknowledges the term Realtor® as they often refer to real estate agents and brokers as Realtors®. NAR protects Realtors® by advocating initiatives and lobbying to protect the real estate market. NAR also protects homeowner's rights by helping ease property taxes and regulations, and to ensure the availability of affordable housing and more.
