Not into cooking eggs or meat in mine, however, I recently read an article on uses for your microwave and it really got me thinking. I decided to summarize some of the items I've not thought of or never used mine for. How many are new to you? 1. It’s a Disinfectant Who knew you could get rid of scummy bacteria lurking on one of your filthiest kitchen items - the sponge. According to a study, 2 minutes at full power kills more than 99% of the germs on it! It even kills E. coli, so that's a good thing. Just get your sponge good and wet, place it in a microwave-safe bowl, and turn it on. Supposedly you can also disinfect soft pet and baby toys, but I don't know how you'd check to make sure they didn't melt first! 2. Bacon Have you cooked bacon in yours? This I've done, but in doing so, I go through a lot of paper towels. The paper towels absorb the fat, so it's easy cleanup, but I think bacon in the oven on parchement is just as easy.
