Backstage Is A Blast!
We are one week from the close of Fiddler on the Roof at the Greenville Little Theatre.  This has been an AWESOME run!  It's definitely been the most exciting show I've been a part of.
Backstage during a musical production can be an exciting place.  There are people rushing to get to stage right or stage left for entrances, other people leaving the stage, and yet others sitting watching TV or reading, waiting until their cue is about to come.
When I did my first musical, Guys and Dolls, I instantly gained a new respect for the work behind the scenes.  It's amazing how much work goes on getting set pieces in just the right place, or making sure props are just where they need to be. 
Costuming is another thing that I took for granted in the beginning.  Suzanne McCalla does a very thorough job putting costumes together, and then evaluating them on-stage to see just how they appear to the audience.  There may be several permutations before the actor has their "final" outfit.  In Fiddler, I have four different roles, with four completely different costumes, and they all went through that rigorous process.
