Does your State allow you to use your nickname as your trade name?
In the State of Maryland as a result of the enactment of House Bill 704 during the 2002 session of the Maryland General Assembly, licensed real estate associate brokers and salespersons are eligible to register a nickname with Real Estate Commission and thereby hold themselves out to the public by that nickname.For years one of the State Association's CE instructors has used me as an example of this law that was passed during his classes. There is a $25 fee to register and the State will send you a new license with your nickname in Parenthesis after your legal name.
 
 
The next question that is usually asked is where did your nickname come from? Years ago I was being interviewed on the local AM talk radio show and the host asked me that question and when I started the story he got a little nervous. Most people assume I picked my nickname up in College or High School, but Buzz has been the name I have always answered to.
